I am a contemporary artist born and living in Wales.

My semi abstract paintings are my response to the changing seasons, views and habitat surrounding my studio in rural mid Wales. I am a lover of colour and texture and paint mostly on large canvas using various mediums including acrylic paint and glazes, oil pastels, acrylic spray paint and charcoal.

I try to begin every day by observing and immersing myself in the woods and wild pond areas outside my studio. I am interested biodiversity and encouraging habitat and although some might say that our 7 acres of land isn’t always traditionally pretty, it is rich in variety and species and we are lucky to have panoramic views of the Tywi valley. I capture my emotional responses to being in nature by using texture and contrasts of darkness and light involving many layers of acrylic glazes.

I paint on average, 5 hours daily and my work changes according to the seasons. I use bold gestural but intentional marks initially which are energetic and sometimes dramatic and come from my emotional responses to living in nature. Others have described my work as being impactful and describing their immediate emotional response to seeing my work, which is lovely to hear and see. I think that subconsciously I am painting about loss and hope and joy in many things in life including the past, the present and hopefully the future! I used to spend all my time playing in the woods when I was young child and I think this evokes an energy and soulfulness in my work.

I have exhibited for the past 5 years in galleries in Wales including The Albany Gallery, Ivy House Gallery, Studio Cennen, Queen Street Gallery, Gallery Gwyn and Wychwood Art in Oxfordshire. I have sold and had work commissioned in the UK and abroad including Sweden, USA and France. I also work with a designer providing a commission service for clients wanting bespoke pieces for their home/business.

I exhibit my work in Manchester Art Fair annually in November every year and am currently working on a new collection of work including some monotone sketches on simple board which will be available online and at this year’s Fair in Manchester.
